Experience the turning of the seasons and the wonder of nature together at the weekly parent/carer and toddler group in the woods on the Railway Lands Nature Reserve in the heart of Lewes.
For toddlers aged 18 months - 5 years old.
This is a warm, friendly and nurturing group inspired by the Forest School ethos of child lead exploration and learning. It is a special time to be in the woods with your child making new friends whist connecting to nature and having lots of fun.
We go on Nature walks, sing songs, learn about local wildlife, the seasons, the weather and how to care for nature and each other. We make natural seasonal crafts and cook healthy snacks over the fire, play in the mud kitchen, go on adventures, forage, bug hunt, have story time, make music, have lots of free play and use our imaginations! Phew!
We make items which aid learning about nature and initiate imaginative play, the group is a space where all can learn about wildlife together, inspiring an interest in our natural world outside of the group.
Each session has a theme around an animal or something interesting happening in nature at that time. Activities are great for manual dexterity, coordination, strength, balance and confidence, crafts are for you to make with your child, but also a moment for you to create something simple (no experience necessary!) whist sitting by the fire and children play.
The group provides Important time for parents/carers with toddlers to connect and have a bit of adult social time, sip a cup of foraged tea, whilst your little ones play together in the mud kitchen.
Quote from a mum " As soon as I arrive at woodland Playgroup in the woods I feel more relaxed, it is calming and the children can just play"
